Want more proof that CrossFit works? Here you go…

Last week we brought you Jonny’s CrossFit journey and this week we introduce you to Stephanie Gill.  

Steph is from a family of Crossfitters and was persuaded (badgered some might say) to join CrossFit Pendle by her two sisters Vic and Olivia.

At the time of joining, Steph had been told she might never been able to do intense exercise again, following two operations on her foot in just 11 months.

She said: “I joined CrossFit when I was in my worst ever physical state. I had lost not only my self-confidence but my confidence in my ability to exercise. I was left feeling big, bloated, fat, flabby, ugly and all round awful.

“As we all know, when you get like this you comfort eat, which is what I ended up doing for months only making things worth.

‘I’ve always been big on exercise and sport so losing my confidence in my ability was massive.”

When Steph first heard about CrossFit, she thought there no way she would be able to do it but after months of seeing her sisters’ results she thought she’d give it a try!

And she has never looked back.

She said: “After only four months of CrossFit I’d lost over 5cm over my hips waist and legs and gained bundles of confidence!

“I HATE posting these pictures because it’s horrible seeing how big I let myself get. But I also LOVE it, because I get to see how much progress I’m making!

“I haven’t done any ridiculous diet, worked out all day all night and eaten spinach and kale until I turned green, so I’m not expecting to be a skinny Minnie in the blink of an eye! I’m simply staying happy, exercising, making better food choices and keeping self-motivated.

“The coaches are fab at giving you scaled options to help improve and I’m now doing a lot of RX* (see description below) movements.”

“I’m a massive believer in if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got. Therefore, if you want to make a change, you have to be the change. Get up, change your lifestyle, workout, sweat, push yourself and enjoy it! Do it now, not next week or next month!

“Joining CrossFit and having that discipline has seriously put me in such a good step forward, not just physically but mentally too. I can’t wait to see the progress in few months! I’m the strongest I’ve ever been too which is awesome!!

*RX: When the workout of the day (WOD) is performed RX‘d, that means the athlete performs all modalities using the prescribed weight and reps. In CrossFit, all WODs can be scaled down to meet your fitness level, but the goal is to get to a place where the RX is challenging, yet doable.
